The story behind the most exclusive peninsula in France: Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat
Welcome to the most exclusive place in the french riviera: Saint-Jean-Cap -Ferrat.
Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is one of those places very little know of, but definitely worth mentioning for those who seek luxury and costal nature at its best.
Located in a niche peninsula east of Nice, Cap-Ferrat provides calmness and quiet on its rocky beaches and green landscape.
French history with Sardinian trails
The peninsula began its era as a french territory after changing hands from the Sardinian Kingdom during the 19th century.
The french presence in the region gave stability to its people and therefore made the almost-island a magnet to royals and statesmen. And so, the residents knew great financial prosperity that you can witness today.
New age, new money
A symbol to that financial success is the Tuscan-style Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild that was built in 1905.
One home to the wealthy family, it is open today for visitors (terms and prices here) and private events.
Like most communes in the region, Cap-Ferrat has its own small port that hosts the residents some impressive yachts.
The pinnacle of leisure is situated in the end of the peninsula. The Grand Hotel resort hotel, which is now part of the Four Seasons group.
This 7,500 sq property is one of the most impressive 5-star hotels in the world. It includes direct access to the sea, indoor and outdoor pools, a park and endless luxury amenities. You can read more information on the hotel here.
Situated on the western side of the peninsula, is the public beach of Cap-Ferrat is called “Passable”. It is a small but heavenly beach which is looking over Villefranche-sur-mer and Cap de Nice.
