Newly opened in Nice, La Casa di Nonna is one successful venture to eat in
The winter is here, and what is more delightful than eating lunch full of carbs to heat yourself.
And if already eating carbs, why not the best. That is where La Casa di Nonna gets in the picture.
After having its first restaurant in Cannes, ‘Casa’ found its way to the heart of Nice. It is located in the Carre d’Or quarter, steps away from Place Grimaldi.
The place is stylish and well decorated with artisan cookware available for sale.
But let’s get to the interesting part – the food.
As its name suggests, the cuisine here concentrates on Italian food.
We chose three dishes to explore: beef tartare, pasta with ham and truffles, and tartine with avocado and fresh raw salmon.
Luckily, we discovered that all three meals were delicious alone, and also all together! You can really sense the quality of each ingredient on each dish – from the avocado, to the salmon to the truffle cream. Every bite was pure happiness: The pasta was not too soft yet tender, the bread optimally crunchy, and the beef tartar was special thanks to the presence of various spices.
After our expectations went up, it was time for dessert(s).
The choice was large, but we finally got an apple-strawberry crumble. Besides its looks, which was a bit “scattered”, it was sublime. Who would have thought these two fruits can work out together so well?
We were also grateful for the coffee that was made to perfection.
Once again, we were happy to find a restaurant that dedicates so much energy in its food preparation. Its first impression says it all – stylish, refined, and very tasty, eversince you walk in its main door. Even prices are fair with 21 Euros average on the menu. Can you ask for more?
