Monaco might be small, but is is full of attractions: casinos, night clubs, car collections, resorts – you get the hang of it.
A little different from all of those is the oceanographic museum, which is just as fascinating.
Monaco is known with its obsession with sea life and nature perseverance, so what’s better than a giant building dedicated to show that?
The impressive baroque-style building was built in 1910. Just the look of it is an experience in itself. It is situated literally on the sea-front, reaching to 100m above the surface.
Inside, the museum contains 6,000 m² of surface full of exotic creatures from 600 different species.
The aquariums are stored in different floors: first you walk through the giant one, which contains sharks, sea turtles and colorful fish.
Discover some bizarre jellyfish, crabs and other weird swimming creatures that you will probably never see in your life. some of them are even semi-reptiles!
The museum offers sessions in which you can touch fish and turtles every 20 minutes.
Climbing to the top of the museum, you will find parts that are dedicated to prehistoric creatures you can learn about through gigantic sculptures hanging from the ceiling.
In the end of the tour there is a souvenirs shop full of original products. We were happy to discover that the souvenirs are special not expensive at all.
