Experience Italian food & groove at Casa Leya – a stylish restaurant that mixes Italy and France right in the heart of Nice
# casa leya
Each year, Nice attracts more and more people and the demand for restaurant is increasing accordingly. Options are endless and they are keep getting better.
This time, we chose an Italian restaurant with a french accent. Meet Casa Leya.
To begin with, the place is inviting. The work with light and wood is great and the location is perfect: the Cours Saleya market.
The best of 3
To start, we took 3 dishes: Burrata Mozzarella, Pecorino cheese with pistachio, and grilled peppers.
Beyond the fact the 3 are a good match with one another, individual ingredient is tasty. The only weak point was the mozzarella’s taste which was a bit neutral.
On another occasion we tried the truffle (specialty of the place) salami and mozzarella. We highly recommend one of those starters – it is an absolute delight.
Next came the Italian burger, Tuna Tataki and the Tagliata (thin sliced beef).
Our favorite was the the Tataki that had a strong taste thanks to the sauce and the freshness of the fish.
The burger came with a buffalo mozzarella on it which was truly refreshing and relatively light compared to a traditional one.
As usual in this area, the fries were crispy and excellent.
The Tagliata was good, yet not brilliant. The meat was properly made, but we think it could be fitted to an interesting sauce of some sort.
In the end we were ready for the dessert – but not this one.
We ordered Tiramisu for 3, but to judge by its size it coud fit 6 people. Regardless its gigantic size, it was a good and classical Tiramisu with good presence of cream, coffee and sponge-cake.
Pricing do not pass the average. Main corses are priced 16-22€, and starters begin at 7€ and get cheaper if you order more than one.
