They say there is no second chance to make a first impression.
Most of the time it is true, but as long as it comes to food we really like to give second chances.
Imagine you sit in a recommended restaurant and having high expectations about everything. Somehow, it turns out that the food is not what you expected, service is slow and the bill in the end doesn’t cheer you up either.
That is more or less what happened to us when we first sat at “Fine Guele” in Nice. Obviously, we saw a lot of potential in the restaurant and its menu, but we probably came on the wrong day.
Luckily, we visited it again since and saw a lot has changed.
Entrée, Plat, Dessert
Ordering the first dish of the evening we have some Pinot Noir, salade and white fish ceviche. All are good, especially the Ceviche that was surrounded by a creamy sauce.
Next are the main courses: white fish (Maigre Sauvage) and Half made Tuna with coriander paste.
It is impossible to decide which one is better. The tuna that comes with grilled eggplant and Tahina, or the sublime white fish with is splendid puree. When the level is so high, who needs to decide anyway?
Finally we recommend the star of the evening: the mighty French Toast. It is simply addicting by itself, and the vanilla ice cream only contributes to the experience.
It is so nice to see when a restaurant has so much attention and creativity in its dishes. Even more so, when the service is very good and efficient. We definitely wait for our 4th time there.
