Between Picasso and high tech: meet the city if Antibes

Half-way from Nice towards Cannes, lies the city of Antibes. A city full of history, located under what is considered as the “Silicone Valley” of the riviera (Sophia Antipolis).

Antibes was also as home to great art creations – Picasso’s to be exact, in a museum dedicated to his pieces.
Originally a house of the Grimaldi family, Pablo Picasso himself chose to live there after WWII.

But before getting to the museum, you will witness Europe’s largest yacht marina in the world – the Port Vauban.
It is one of the few ports in Europe that can host 100+ meter yachts, with more than 2,000 moorings in total.

Entering the small and charming central city, you will find its lively market. It is surrounded by restaurants, bistros and galleries that catches the eye and stimulates the senses.

Outside the walls there is the modern city, which features the “high-tech” part named Sophia Antipolis, and also the extremely posh Cap d’Antibes. The latter is a beautiful peninsula that serves society’s elite mainly during summer.

The pinnacle of this area in terms of luxury is undoubtedly the Cap-Eden-Roc Hotel: the billionaires location to pass time during the hot season.

A popular trip on this peace of land would be to walk on the Sentier du Littoral (costal path) while enjoying the view of clear water, rocky shores and gigantic mountains in the background.
