We always say that Monaco is a place for those who look at the details. One simply cannot enjoy this city-state at it max just from going to the Casino square. There is much more to discover here despite its small dimensions.

Same goes to its dinning places. You can choose Cafe de Paris as a default, as most tourists do, or you can try something special and hidden from the eye. That is exactly where local boutique bakeries like Cova gets in the picture.

World class

Cova is an Italian has 2 branches in Europe: one in Milan and one in Monte-Carlo. It is a rather posh establishment, made with much attention on class and refinement.

And it does show: the moment you enter this joint you are welcomed with servers in tuxedos and the interior is beautifully decorated and welcoming.

Our story begins with focus on the pastries, and also on eating lunch.
We started with taking Eggs Benedict and Escalopes Milanaises (fried chicken cutlets).
Both refined and tasty, it’s the Benedict egg that took the spotlight.
They really took this dish to a high standards in terms of tenderness and tastes, thanks to the magnificent creme fraiche that was on top of it.

Addicting sweetness

When it was time for coffee and desserts, we were excited to find out that they were really on top. The cappuccino was fantastic thanks to its with super creamy texture.
We took a fruit tarte and a tiny white chocolate & yogurt pie that made our day. The tarte was not too heavy with a tasty creme patissier and lots of fresh fruit. The tiny pie was brilliant thanks to a good mixture between the 2 ingredients.

By that time we were done, wishing we had more space in our bellies.
We had the impression that no matter what you’ll order, it will probably be up to the highest standard.

We will say that it is not a cheap place to eat in, but not as expensive as it gets relatively to similar places in the principality: we went off with a 60 Euro bill in our pockets (to people), knowing it could have been cheaper if we wouldn’t have come during the weekend.
